In today's fast pace world accurate
information is a must. We have the technology and equipment to provide accurate and
detailed maps of your property. A complete map that shows the exact acreage of each forest
type is essential when planning and budgeting activities.
We maintain a Geographic Information System (GIS) using
the latest in computer-assisted mapping to help foresters define boundaries, timber types
and other land characteristics.
GIS is used to plan and conduct information
needs-assessment, design spatial databases and integrate graphics with the existing
attribute databases.
Our experienced staff uses custom-designed databases for maintenance and management of
information and can use information from most industry standard databases to assist in
planning all silvicultural activities. We use satellite-based Global Positioning Systems
(GPS) to provide accurate acreage calculations for precise inventories.
By combining GIS and GPS, we can locate infrastructure, timber stands, special management
areas and endangered species sites. We use these systems as an auditing tool, for risk
abatement, to check for evidence of trespass and for stand delineation.
GIS can assist in development of harvest scheduling, growth and yield models and financial
forecasting models which are used to ensure that timber stands are harvested at the
appropriate time.
